Sales worth planning around

Most holiday sales are announced late and end early, so people find out about them halfway through. This page lists what's running right now and what's lined up next, with the dates attached, so you can decide when to buy instead of reacting.

Every event here is added by hand. We don't auto generate a page for every minor shopping holiday. If a sale isn't worth your time we leave it off.

When each sale is actually good

Black Friday and Cyber Monday
The real discounts start the Monday before and run through the following week. The Friday itself is mostly noise now. Electronics and big appliances peak here and won't get cheaper before spring.
End of season clearance
January and July. Clothing gets cut hardest once stores need the floor space. Selection is picked over, so it works if you're flexible on size and colour.
Prime Day and its copycats
Every large retailer now runs a competing sale the same week. Worth comparing across stores rather than assuming one has the best price.
Back to school
Late July into August. Laptops, bags and stationery, plus a quiet stretch of good furniture pricing that nobody advertises.
Boxing Day and new year
Whatever didn't sell in December. Prices drop again but stock is thin, so it's a gamble on anything specific.

Questions about holiday deals

How this page works and how to get the most out of a sale.

Sign up for alerts on the deal you care about and we'll email you when it opens. Most sales get posted here days before they go live, which is usually enough time to compare prices beforehand.

Often, but not always. Some stores raise a price a few weeks out so the sale looks bigger. Check what an item cost before the sale started. If you have somewhere to compare price history, use it.

Depends on the category. Electronics and appliances reward waiting for a specific event. Everyday things go on sale often enough that holding out for months rarely pays.

Yes, surprisingly often. Plenty of stores stack a code on top of sale pricing, and some run codes that only work during the event. Always check the store page before checking out.

Either it hasn't been confirmed yet or the store hasn't shared dates. We add events once we know they're real rather than guessing from last year's calendar.

It drops off this page automatically. Anything still listed is either live or has a start date ahead of it.

Dates come from the stores and can move without warning. Turn on an alert and we'll tell you when a sale actually opens.
